About Max

Despite the domain name, Max is not a doctor, nor does he play one on TV!  "MaxMD" was simply one of the available domain names, and since it was short and kind of catchy, it was chosen for a spot to chronicle his medical journey.  "Lots of people ask how I am doing," he says -- and this is the place he can answer that question most completely.

Max was diagnosed with stage IV gallbladder cancer in July 2014.  He is optimistic and hopeful about the future, looking to his faith for miracles (Ether 12:12-22, 30).

Max is supported greatly by his wife, Kath.  To keep a positive outlook, she watches for daily tender mercies.

Additionally, Max has three children who seek to support him: Ray (who lives with Max and Kath and is there for the day-to-day support), Alex (of New Mexico), and Beth (of Colorado).  He has one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, and eight young grandchildren.

His extended support network includes three brothers, two sisters, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.  His youngest sister Julie is also his neighbor and offers so much day-to-day help.  And while they have only been residents of their ward for a year or two, their ward family has rallied to support Max and Kath.

Max retired from a successful career in city and county management in 2009 and currently resides in Utah.
